The Cervantes Theatre in the Spanish city of Malaga is the oldest stage area of the capital of the Costa del Sol, dates from 1870 and features twelve hundred locations. It is the headquarters of the Festival de Málaga. The theater was built in 1869 after the destruction by fire of the Teatro del Principe Alfonso, who was called as the old Merced Theater after his visit in 1862 to the city did Queen Elizabeth II. After that unfortunate event the construction of a new theater under the direction of architect Jeronimo Cuervo, which opened in 1870 as Teatro Cervantes decided.
